Back in the summer of 2018, the Rev. Adam Price was invited by the Bishop of Plymouth to plant a new church community into St Aidan’s, Ernesettle.
The brief given by the Bishop was try new things, reach new people and to bless the community of Ernesettle by proclaiming the good news of Jesus.
On Sunday 6th January, Adam and a team of 10 people opened the doors of St Aidan’s and began to worship Jesus.
There were 22 people in church that Sunday.
Since then so much has changed!
The Sea Salt Café was right at the heart of the vision to play our part at the centre of the community. The café opened in February 2020, just three weeks before the first Covid lockdown.
There is always loads going on here at St Aidan’s, and through it all we have kept a passion for Jesus right at the heart of everything we do.
We continue to believe that God loves Ernesettle, that He wants to see it flourish and grow as a community.
We want to see St Aidan’s grow as a worshipping community and continue to follow Jesus in the power of the Holy Spirit and to play our part in all that God wants to do.
From the 22 people who gathered on that first Sunday, we are now a thriving church community committed to serving Ernesettle for many years to come!
We would love to invite you to come and join the adventure!
Although the cafe was then closed for a year, lots of new life began to appear around the church.
The Foodbank was started, then we added the Community Larder.
As Covid restrictions were eased and things began to reopen. The Sea Salt Café was relaunched after Easter 2021. We then started our toddler group, SeaTots, and our after school club, The Sound, and we began working with Rebound Gymnastics offering an amazing soft play session.
Towards the end of 2021 the Craft Club was launched on Thursday afternoons and we have recently launched our new youth café, Sounds Waves.
